Research projects

Development and evaluation of holistic, indicator-based sustainability instruments in acute inpatient health care

Project funding: Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care

Co-applicant/PI

Duration: 08/2022 - 07/2025

This project aims to analyze the current state of sustainability in Bavarian hospitals. Building on the "Green HospitalPLUS" initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care, the project aims to develop a holistic, indicator-based sustainability tool for Bavarian hospitals. In order to investigate the sustainability communication of hospitals, we first analyse how patients and employees perceive sustainability measures in hospitals in general and sustainability information in partiuclar. Second, the perception of different sustainability labels of hospitals in online databases is analyzed.

Evidence-based health information for patients with pulmonary embolism in the post-acute treatment phase

Project funding: Funding Announcement of the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee for the Promotion of Health Services Research

Co-applicant/PI

Duration: 05/2020 - 04/2023

Although pulmonary embolism is the third most common cardiovascular disease in Germany, there is little reliable, disease-specific information available for patients. This project therefore aims to develop an information brochure on pulmonary embolism. In addition, a questionnaire on pulmony embolism specific health literacy is developed. Pilot versions of the brochure are developed based on qualitative interview data on patients' information needs. The brochure versions are used to test communicative strategies for conveying information relevant to patients' everyday lives in a series of experimental studies. Specifically, effects of patient narratives and self-efficacy information are analyzed.
