Coordinated succession
Note on the current procedure
From August you will find information here on the degree programmes with which the University of Augsburg is participating in the coordinated succession for the winter semester 2025/26.
If you have any questions, please contact: bewerbung-studium@zv.uni-augsburg.de
FAQ
- Applicants who have not yet received admission via hochschulstart - for any study programme, including from any other university.
- New applicants who have not yet applied via hochschulstart and only wish to submit new applications during the coordinated succession phase.
Group 1
(no admission via hochschulstart so far)
If you have not yet been admitted to a degree programme via hochschulstart - not even for another university - you will be notified by hochschulstart.
You can declare your participation in the application portal of hochschulstart in the ‘My applications’ section using the buttons temporarily placed in the application overview for coordinated succession.
After the deadline, it is no longer possible to participate in the coordinated succession, as this is a cut-off period that cannot be extended.
It is also possible to ‘top up’ study preferences with new applications, but only if fewer than twelve applications were submitted for the previous main procedure, as participation in the coordinated succession is also only possible with a maximum of twelve applications. All applications that took part in the previous coordination phase are counted - regardless of which study programmes ultimately take part in the coordinated succession. It is possible to ‘top up’ during the entire coordinated succession process.
Group 2
(new applicants without application via hochschulstart in the main procedure)
If you have not already done so, you must first register in the hochschulstart application portal. With the start of the coordinated succession procedure, you then have the opportunity to apply for the remaining places on a maximum of twelve degree programmes.
Important: Your new applications will only be considered if the completed ranking lists in the main procedure, on which you are not already registered as a new applicant, have been exhausted and there are still remaining places available. These last places will then be allocated by lot.
During the entire coordinated succession, new applications can only be submitted centrally via the hochschulstart application portal - not via the VIBS application portal. However, please also register with VIBS and provide the registration data from hochschulstart.
These are short applications to which no further documents need to be attached. Please also note the admission requirements of the University of Augsburg: The coordinated succession does not check whether your application fulfils these requirements.
You can find suitable study programmes at the start of the new phase via the study programme search in your user account. By activating the filter ‘Only show study programmes participating in the lottery procedure’, you can limit the list of study programmes to entries relevant for the coordinated succession.
- if you have been eliminated from the procedure due to an offer of admission for a higher-priority application,
- if you have received another offer of admission via hochschulstart or
- if you have missed the deadline for declaring your participation in the coordinated succession.
You then still have the opportunity to take part in the lottery admission process. This will be carried out after the coordinated succession if there are still places available.
The coordinated succession begins after the main procedure is completed and can be carried out until 30.09.
However, the coordinated succession usually ends earlier and a lottery admission process may then take place.
