PostDoc and PhD Positions in Collaborative AI in the Context of Industry 4.0 at Augsburg University, Germany

The Institute for Informatics at University of Augsburg is seeking for several highly motivated and qualified doctoral students and PostDocs (full time) to join the Lab for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. The starting date for the positions is flexible, but preferably during the spring of 2022. The position will be for three years - with the possibility to extend it.

Applicants should have a graduate degree (BSC, MA, MSC, Diplom, PhD) in Computer Science or a related discipline. Furthermore, they should have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: multimodal machine learning, collaborative AI and robotics or inclusive AI-based technologies for the workplace. For candidates without doctoral degree, rapid achievement of such a degree is desired and will be definitely supported.

The candidate is expected to conduct research within the AI Production Network. In future AI-supported, data-driven production environments, the role of humans will change. The classic system operator becomes a supervisor of (partially) autonomous systems. These systems act on the basis of constantly updated data, changing boundary conditions and target specifications. Therefore, the AI Production Network focuses on the development of methods that make machine decisions transparent and comprehensible and offer context-dependent options for action in order to secure the sovereignty of people and to bring their creativity to the optimization of the overall process in a targeted manner.

Our team has a long-term experience in multimodal machine learning, intelligent user interfaces, and human-robot interaction and is involved in many international collaborations including the new ELLIS Fellow Program on Multimodal Learning Systems. More information on our work can be found under:
