Chair of Software Engineering

Software and computer science are at the core of the digital transformation. Important technological advances such as flexible and highly automated manufacturing need high quality software foundations.

 

The chair of Software Engineering at the University Augsburg therefore performs research, development, and education in software engineering and its wide-reaching applications such as robotics and automation, artificial intelligence, as well as self-organizing and secure systems. Core competencies include rigorous techniques for specification and analysis of software, mechanized reasoning and optimization, and developing software abstractions for real-time and embedded systems. For more than a decade, the group is well experienced in fundamental as well as applied research, with strong contributions to the scientific literature as well as major industrial software tools, especially in robotics.

Institute for Software & Systems Engineering

The Institute for Software & Systems Engineering (ISSE), directed by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Reif, is a scientific institution within the Faculty of Applied Computer Science of the University of Augsburg. In research, the institute supports both fundamental and application-oriented research in all areas of software and systems engineering. In teaching, the institute facilitates the further development of the faculty's and university's relevant course offerings.
