This conference with international participation takes an interdisciplinary look at the Black Civil Rights Movement, covering historical developments, key concepts within the movement, its significance in Europe as well as important current challenges. The event will be held at the Akademie für Politische Bildung in Tutzing

This conference aims at bringing together scholars from the United States and different European countries to discuss the legacy of the Black Civil Rights Movement from a transnational and interdisciplinary perspective. We will take a closer look at the origins and uses of the concepts of human dignity and human rights within the movement and then explore how its legacy has inspired activism and organizations for racial and social justice on both sides of the Atlantic.

Registration is possible up to 23 August. Further details as well as the conference programme can be found on the event's website.
