Graphene with pores
Graphene nanomeshes, formed by creating pores in graphene, have been systematically studied by M. M. Fadlallah et al. [
arXiv:1611.02855 /
J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 29, 055301 (2017) ] using ab intio methods. The electronic and magnetic properties can be modified by passivating the pores with nitrogen, and further doping with 3d metals. Cr and V doping into trigonal pores as well as Ti doping are found to be most favorable for spintronic applications. (Figure: hexagonal configuration)
