Requirements / Master North American Studies
Applicants for NAS must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor diploma in the fields of language, cultural, or social studies. In particular, diplomas in theology, philosophy, history, literature and linguistics, European and non-European philology, psychology, education studies, religious studies, political science, sociology, geography, communication studies, or similar are accepted.
- Applicants have to prove their knowedge of two languages out of English, French and Spanish. They must speak one of these languages on a C1 level and a second on a B1 level according to the Common European Framwork of References for Languages. Proof of the second language may be postponed unteil the end of the first NAS year. On a case to case basis, a non-North American language may be accepted as a secon language.
- Applicants from non German-speaking countries have to prove knowledge of German on the level DSH 2 or TestDaF4 (in all of the four areas).
- In case a Bachelor diploma is not yet available, students can be enrolled under the condition that they can give prove of 140 ECTS credits acquired during their Bachelor program. They will be asked to show their Bachelor diploma at the end of the first NAS semester.
