Prof. Dr. Simone M. Müller, DFG-Heisenberg Professor for Global History and Environmental Humanities, University of Augsburg, is scouting for two Humboldt Research Fellows!

As a Henriette Herz Scout for the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Prof. Müller is recruiting two Humboldt Research Fellows  (Post-Doc or Advanced Scholar) in Environmental History and Environmental Humanities to spend between 6 months and 2 years to work on their own research projects and join a growing interdisciplinary community in the Environmental Humanities at the University of Augsburg.

More specifically, Prof. Müller is looking for two scholars who…

(1) Work as historians or environmental humanities scholars on one of the following areas
a. toxicity, contamination, and legacy sites
b. wetlands and human-water relationships across time
c. verticality as a research perspective to investigate the flows and exchanges between above and below ground.
(2) Originate from or do research on Indigenous regions or any other region outside of Europe and North America.
(3) Fulfill the qualifications of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for a Research Fellowship (Post-Doc or Advanced Scholar) → please check their website for the requirements.

Female and non-binary candidates will be given preference. BIPOC and scholars from underrepresented backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

If you are interested, please send Prof. Müller an email, briefly introducing you and your topic (please attach your C.V. and a short 2-5 page-project description). If your topic is a fit, Prof. Müller will follow up with an informal zoom meeting.

The first scouting phase is from now until April 5. Prof. Müller plans to send the first nomination forward to the Alexander v. Humboldt Foundation in the summer of 2024 (with a potential starting date for the fellow in late 2024 or 2025).
