What is a Transcript of Records?

A “Transcript of Records” is an English translation listing all academic achievements completed so far at the University of Augsburg, in other words, it is a translated version of the STUDIS module and course record ("Modul- und Lehrveranstaltungsbestätigung"). Students need this document when applying for a study period at a foreign university

Please note: You do NOT need an English-language transcript when applying for a master’s programme at the University of Augsburg (or another German-speaking university). If a transcript is required as part of the application, this refers to the part of the bachelor’s certificate in which all completed courses are listed. Alternatively, the verifiable module and course record is also sufficient.

Transcript of Records for students of the FAI, MNTF, and WiWi faculties

Students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme at the Faculty of Applied Computer Science (FAI), the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology (MNTF) or the Faculty of Business and Economics (Wiwi) can generate the Transcript of Records in English automatically in the examination administration software STUDIS.

To do so, log in and select Documents (verifiable) and then Transcript of Records (English).

This document is valid without a signature. It is important that you generate it

with verification option.

Please check the information on the document carefully. If you notice any discrepancies, please contact transcripts.outgoing@aaa.uni-augsburg.de.

Students studying or having studied under an old examination regulation must prepare the transcript as described in the section below.

Graduates who are no longer enrolled at the university can apply for the Transcript of Records through the Student Service Centre (" Studierendeninformationsbüro") of the University of Augsburg.

Transcript of Records for students from all other faculties

Students of all other faculties cannot generate the Transcript of Records in STUDIS. Therefore, you must prepare the document yourself and have it verified by the International Office. Proceed as follows and allow sufficient time:

Please note that you must submit the document called “Modul- und Lehrveranstaltungsbestätigung” (Module and Course Record) and that this document must contain a verification code.

  1. To edit the transcript, you need a computer with Microsoft Word. Other programs (for example on Mac computers) may cause formatting changes, and we cannot process your document.
  2. Change the file name of the transcript to Surname_FirstName.docx
  3. If you need a transcript for both your bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, please prepare two separate documents (Mustermann_Max (B.A./B.Sc. degree programme) and Mustermann_Max (M.A./M.Sc. degree programme))
  4. Processing by the International Office usually takes one to two weeks. Please allow enough time and send us all documents well in advance.
  5. The International Office can only issue a transcript for degree programmes at the University of Augsburg. If, for example, you completed your bachelor’s degree at another German university, you must contact your former university and request the transcript for your bachelor’s courses there.
  6. Unfortunately, if your degree was completed more than 3 years ago, we cannot issue a Transcript of Records for you.
  1. Enter your personal details and your study programme including the degree.
An overview of degree programmes at the University of Augsburg in English can be found here: https://www.uni-augsburg.de/en/studium/studienangebot/uebersicht/
  2. Enter all courses, credit points, and grades from your STUDIS module and course overview in the order shown in your STUDIS data sheet.
  3. Please translate the course titles as they are translated in the respective module handbook. You can find the module handbooks  here. For some courses, no translation is available yet; in that case, please translate the course titles appropriately according to their meaning. If in doubt, we are happy to assist you. For the Law degree programme, please follow  this translation guide
  4. Capitalize all words in the translated course titles (except for prepositions, articles, etc.), even if this is indicated differently in the module handbook.
  5. For all courses, indicate in the “Status” column whether you have “passed” them in your degree programme at the University of Augsburg (= Pass) or whether they are “recognized achievements (other university)” (= Transferred).
  6. In the “Grade” column, note that grades must not be converted. Please do not replace commas with periods and always provide two decimal places. If no grade is listed in your STUDIS confirmation, enter two dashes (--).
  7. In the “Credits” column, also enter the number of credit points with two decimal places.
! Do not enter the number of “Verrechnungspunkte,” but the number of credit points (“Leistungspunkte”) instead (this is especially important for teacher training students).
  8. Once you have entered all courses, simply leave the remaining lines blank.
If you need more lines than provided in the form, please send us an email.

Please send your completed transcript as a Word document together with the PDF of the verifiable module and course record to
transcripts.outgoing@aaa.uni-augsburg.de.
Please state the purpose for which you need the transcript (for example: application for a study abroad period at the University of Madrid).

The issuance of the transcript may take up to two weeks.

Please make sure that your inbox has sufficient free storage capacity.

Transcript for Graduates of the University of Augsburg

English-language transcripts for graduates can only be issued up to 3 years after graduation from the University of Augsburg. If your degree was completed longer ago, please contact a certified translator.

Graduates of the FAI, MNTF, and WiWi faculties can obtain a printed English transcript from the Student Service Centre provided they studied under the currently valid examination regulations. Otherwise, the procedure described above applies.

If you have your transcript issued by the AAA, you must always submit a module and course record ("Modul- und Lehrveranstaltungsbestätigung"). If you no longer have access to STUDIS, the Student Service Centre can issue this document for you.
