Microflora and, in particular, gut microbiota diversity is shaping immunity in an
individualized manner. Therefore, patient immune/bacterial interface should also
influence immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) efficacy against cancer. We have
previously shown that the humoral anti-commensal response represents a relatively
simple way to probe the immune/bacterial interface of each individual. We therefore
hypothesize that anti-microbiota responses patterns defined in that way may be
associated to therapeutic response to ICIs.
In order to test this hypothesis we shall discuss preliminary results based on bacterial
flow cytometry analysis of serum IgG and IgA reactivity against cultivable strains
(Escherichia coli, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Bifidobacterium longum,
Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Akkermansia muciniphila, Bacteroides fragilis,
Enterococcus hirae and Collinsella aerofacien) tested before ICI onset, in relation to
clinical response.
