Of special interest herein are barrier tissues that guard entrances into the human body and organs. These barriers are formed by highly specialized tissues such as skin, eye, airways, blood-brain-barrier and the intestine. However, to recapitulate these tissues, researchers are currently restricted by a lack of suitable in vitro tissue equivalents and test methods. In this talk, he will highlight the developments at the Fraunhofer Translational Center for Regenerative Therapies in the field of in vitro models and give a short introduction in the implementation of novel concepts from automation Technology and material Sciences. In vitro barrier Models for risk and efficacy assessment
