^DT  Dr. Sebastian Scherr ist seit August 2022 Professor und Lehrstuhlinhaber für " Digital Health Communication" am Institut für Medien, Wissen und Kommunikation (imwk) an der Universität Augsburg. Sebastian Scherr promovierte an der LMU München, bevor er eine Tenure-Track Stelle für "Media Effects" an der KU Leuven (Belgien) innehatte. Zuletzt lehrte und forschte Sebastian Scherr in den USA an der University of Wisconsin–Madison und an der Texas A&M University, wo er 2022 zum Associate Professor (with tenure) befördert wurde. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich Health Communication, mit denen er sich auch gerne in der Lehre beschäftigt. Für seine Forschung und Lehre erhielt er bereits mehrere Auszeichnungen und freut sich schon sehr darauf mit den Studierenden in Augsburg zusammenzuarbeiten.

Der Lehrstuhl ist Teil des Forschungsschwerpunkts "Digital Health Research and Artificial Intelligence/Digitale Gesundheitsforschung und Künstliche Intelligenz" und mit in das Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Gesundheitsforschung (ZIG) eingebunden.

^ENG  Sebastian Scherr (Ph.D., University of Munich) is the newly appointed Full Professor and Chair of " Digital Health Communication" in the Department of Media, Knowledge, and Communication at the University of Augsburg (Germany) starting in August 2022. Before returning to Germany, Sebastian was a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Media Effects at KU Leuven (Belgium). In the last couple of years, Sebastian worked in the U.S. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at Texas A&M University, where he earned his tenure and was promoted to the rank of an Associate Professor. His research focuses on individual and structural susceptibility factors for media effects in health communication, which he also focuses on in his teaching. He received several awards for excellence in research and teaching, and he is excited to start building mentoring relationships with students in Augsburg.

The chair is part of the research focus "Digital Health Research and Artificial Intelligence" and is integrated into the Center for Interdisciplinary Health Research (ZIG).
