Why you should apply for the Augsburg Summer Program

  1. You will have an opportunity to explore the most relevant issues of the law governing the global economy. The Program will advance your understanding of the business law and provide you with knowledge necessary to gain an interesting and fulfilling employment in the legal field.
  2. Allocated in Germany, the summer program will give you an opportunity to improve your social as well as your working connections. During the program you will meet people from all over the world and you will get a feeling for a different culture. Further, you will gain a chance to get in touch with law firms from Augsburg and Munich (München) and global players such as Daimler-Chrysler, BMW and Siemens.
  3. You will acheive all of that in only 6 weeks!

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the first year of law school
    However, we also welcome graduate students interested in an additional qualification in the field of international business law or young professionals.
  • Good English skills, as all lectures and tests are held in English.
    Nevertheless, there is no TOEFL test requirement. The summer program includes an optional German language course.

The applications for the Augsburg Summer Program 2024 will be accepted until April 30th, 2025.

 

As soon as you are accepted to participate in the Augsburg Summer Program, we will send you a letter of acceptance. The tuition fee for the program is due upon reception of this letter.

The applicants from the following universities should apply to the coordinators at their home university. These coordinators carry out the selection procedure.

  • Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California
  • University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina
  • Pepperdine University, Malibu, California
  • University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Peking University, China
  • Macau University of Science and Technology, China

Students from US Law Schools can earn ABA approved credits, which are transferable to the respective home universities.

 

To ensure that every participant has a free choice between all courses, lectures and seminars offered the number of participants is limited to 25 students. Acceptances are given in the order of arrival of the applications.

Tuition and Fees

Each student is subject to an administrative fee. While this fee is currently being revised, it is not likely to exceed 1000 Euro for the 2025 Augsburg Summer Program.

 

The administrative fee does not apply to students from the following Universities:

  • University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina
  • Pepperdine University, Malibu, California

  • Macau University of Science and Technology, China

Enrollment becomes effective only after the payment of the full tuition fee is made (except for students that do not have to pay the fee, see above). If the payment is not made within two weeks after reception of the acceptance letter, the University reserves the right to withdraw the acceptance. As long as we have not yet announced the tuition fee for the 2025 Summer Program, the payment deadine does not become effective.

 

We want to emphasize to students the importance of independently securing accommodation in Augsburg. While we cannot provide an exact estimate for accommodation expenses during your stay, it is curcial to understand that these costsare anticipated to surpass the tuition fee. Please be aware that housing costs are seperate from and not covered by the tuition fee.

Visa

Students from outside European Union may require a visa to be able to take part in the Summer Program. To find out whether you need a visa, please, refer to the German Embassy in your home country.

 

There are no visa requirements for U.S. citizens. Participants can enter the country with a tourist visa, which will be valid for 90 days for the whole European Union.

Housing

Students need to arrange their housing themselves. However, students from our American partner universities will be supported by fellow German students with their search for housing during their stay in Augsburg.
