Infrastructure law, as a broad field of law, encompasses not only classic transport infrastructure (roads, railways, waterways, and air traffic) but also facilities for the provision of water and energy (dams, power lines), material supply and disposal (waste incineration plants), and communication infrastructure (mobile networks). Infrastructure facilities are fundamental to the economic viability of our society. Legal issues related to the construction, maintenance, and use of infrastructure, including its sale, have become increasingly important in recent years. This is due to a growing need for security of supply and increasing regulation by legislators at the national and European levels.
