Summer & Winter Schools Abroad
General Information
Planning
In principle, you can choose flexibly when you would like to participate in a Summer or Winter School. For subject-specific Summer Schools, it is advisable to have completed at least two semesters at the University of Augsburg in order to demonstrate the necessary foundational knowledge in the field.
It may be somewhat more challenging to find a summer or winter School that takes place during the German semester break, as academic calendars abroad are often structured differently. As a result, these short-term programmes may overlap with Augsburg’s lecture periods.
There are a large number of summer and winter Schools offered worldwide. To find the programme that best suits your needs, you should first consider what you are looking for:
- Would you like to get to know another university?
- Would you like to explore a subject that is not offered at your home university?
- Would you like to experience a different culture and language?
- Would you like to deepen your knowledge in a subject related to your studies?
- What benefits do you expect to gain from attending a summer/winter School?
You will receive academic credits from the host institution for courses completed during a summer or winter School. Whether these credits can be recognised as part of your degree programme in Augsburg must be discussed in advance with your department or faculty. Please also consult the University's information on credit recognition.
Participation in a summer or winter school usually involves tuition or participation fees. In addition, you will need to cover travel expenses, accommodation, and living costs during your stay. Various scholarship opportunities may help cover part of these expenses, including:
