Information on teaching degree state examinations
The following documents (A to G) must be submitted when registering for the first state examination for teaching at public schools (Lehramt Erste Staatsprüfung) at the University of Augsburg (Room 2096, Presidium). Only complete registrations will be accepted.
A0: Admission Request (Antrag auf Zulassung) for early state examinations in Educational Science (Erziehungswissenschaften, EWS)
Only the documents with the letters B), C) and D) together with the online registration form (A1) (Online-Meldeformular) need to be submitted when registering for early Educational Science State Examinations. A module confirmation (Modulbestätigung) as referred to under D), only has to include the Educational Science part.
Confirmation of the submission of written work (Abgabebestätigung der Hausarbeit) for the completion of the practical internship (Abgabe des Betriebspraktikum) will only take place when registering for the state examination in the subject combination (großes Staatsexamen)!
A1: Admission Request (Registration for the first state examination in its entirety)
Registration for the first state examination for teaching in public schools (Staatsprüfung für ein Lehramt an öffentlichen Schulen) takes place for candidates who are taking the examination in accordance with the examination regulations for teaching degrees (Lehramtsprüfungordnung, LPO 1) from the 13th of March 2008 through the use of the online procedure and, as listed, in letters B to G. The form can be found on the website of the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs (Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Unterricht und Kultus). Please note that online registration alone is insufficient. It is only valid in conjunction with the presentation of a signed statement at the Examinations Office. We strongly advise that you read the information on the ministry's website.
It is possible for another person to act as a proxy. A declaration of power of attorney (Vollmachtserklärung) with a copy of your personal ID and that of the person acting as a power of attorney (proxy) must be presented at the time of issue.
A2: Options for the submission of documents
Please note that the online registration form (Online-Meldeformular) including the required documents, filled out and signed, must be submitted in a timely manner to the Examinations Office.
- Submission in person (Building A3, Zimmer 2096 (Level 1)
Only on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 08:30 am to 12:00 pm.
- Postal submission (the date on the postal stamp is counted as the date of receipt)

- Submission in the official university post box at building A, left of the turnstile at the front entrance of the building, or in the post box in front of room 2096, level 1.
When registering, please note the instructions in the relevant information sheet under the heading “Dates” (Termine), especially that regarding the possible subsequent submission of documents.
B: Birth and marriage certificates (if applicable)
Birth certificates must be submitted in original or as an extract from the births’ registry (Ablichtung aus dem Geburtenbuch). An extract from the births’ registry can only be applied for through the office that was responsible for registering the birth. Marriage certificates must be submitted in original or as an extract from the marriage registry (Ablichtung aus dem Eheregister). An extract from the marriage registry is issued by the registry office where you were married.
It is possible to replace the original certificate with an extract from the births’/marriage registry at a later point.
Certified copies or photocopies of the birth or marriage certificate are not sufficient!
If the birth and marriage certificate (where applicable) have already been submitted as part of the Educational Science (EWS) registration, they do not need to be resubmitted when registering for the subject combination.
C: Evidence of previous periods of study
As evidence of previous periods of study, a confirmation of previous periods of study with academic progress (Studienverlaufsbescheinigung) must be presented. This can be printed out from the VIBS-Portal.
D: Evidence of university achievements
Evidence of university achievements is provided by means of a print-out from STUDIS. This can be printed out in the Studis-Onlineportal. Please present a copy of your Transcript of Records (Modul- und Lehrveranstaltungsbestätigung) at registration.
E: Information on the subject Sport as the main teaching subject and as a supplementary teaching subject (Unterrichtsfach und Dritteldidaktikfach)
The following evidence (in original and in copy) must be submitted exclusively to the Examinations Office when registering for the first state examination:
Sport as the main teaching subject (Unterrichtsfach): in original and in copy respectively
a) Evidence of a German Lifesaving Silver Badge (Deutsches Rettungsschwimmabzeichen in Silber) of the Deutschen Lebensrettungs-Gesellschaft or the Wasserwacht. It must be no older than three years**.
b) Evidence of successful participation in first aid training. Must be no older than three years, with a minimum of 9 teaching units (Unterrichtseinheiten), each with a duration of 45 minutes **.
Sport as a supplementary teaching subject: in original and in copy respectively
a) Evidence of a German Lifesaving Bronze Badge (Deutsches Rettungsschwimmabzeichen in Bronze). It must be no older than three years**.
b) Evidence of successful participation in first aid training. Must be no older than three years, with a minimum of 9 teaching units (Unterrichtseinheiten), each with a duration of 45 minutes **.
c) A German sporting badge in bronze (Deutsches Sportabzeichen).
**The validity period (3 years from the date of issue) for the evidence referred to under letters a) and b) must not be exceeded!
The cut-off date for spring is 01.06 of the previous year.
The cut-off date for autumn is 01.12 of the previous year.
The originals, as with any other documents that are no longer needed, can be collected after the Letter of Admission (Zulassungsbescheid) has been delivered.

F: Evidence of Internships
Which individual achievements are to be demonstrated by the provision of evidence (according to points D and E), are listed in the Examination Regulations for Teaching Degrees (LPO 1) from the 13th of March 2008.
All successfully completed internships are recorded in the Transcript of Records (Modul- und Lehrveranstaltungsbestätigung) according to point D above. The Internship Card (Praktikumskarte) for teaching in primary and secondary schools (Grundschulen and Mittelschulen) and the Confirmation of Internship (Praktikumsbescheinigung) for teaching at Gymnasium and Realschule do not need to be submitted. The Transcript of Records is sufficient in these cases.
The practical internship (Betriebspraktikum) must be submitted in the original.
Evidence of the orientation internship (Orientierungspraktikum) is only required by the Internship Office (Praktikumsamt) when registering for internships.
G: Evidence of foreign language skills
Which foreign language skills are required for each of the relevant teaching subjects is listed in the Examination Regulations (LPO 1) from the 13th of March 2008.

In most cases, evidence of foreign language skills can be provided with a certificate of a general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (allgemeine or fachgebundene Hochschulreife).
The certificate must be submitted as an officially certified copy. The example submitted to the Examinations Office at enrolment is not kept, so another example must be submitted.
Other evidence of foreign language skills, such as certificates (e.g., for booster courses) or certificates that have been acquired at the University of Augsburg or other institutions, must be submitted in original.
