Prof. Dr. med Verina Wild forscht und lehrt in den Bereichen Medizinethik/Bioethik, Public Health Ethik und Global Health Ethics. Nach ihrer Arbeit als Ärztin und im eher klassisch medizin- und forschungsethischen Bereich hat sie sich in den letzten zehn Jahren intensiv mit Public-Health-Ethik und Theorien der Gesundheitsgerechtigkeit auseinandergesetzt. Anwendungsbereiche ihrer Forschung sind z.B. Pandemien, Digitalisierung, Klimawandel, soziale Determinanten von Gesundheit, (globale) Gesundheitsgerechtigkeit, Migration. Ein faszinierendes Forschungsgebiet zur Beziehung zwischen individueller und populationsbezogener Ebene im Gesundheitsbereich sind auch mobile Gesundheitstechnologien (Apps, Wearables). Das von ihr geleitete BMBF-Forschungsprojekt „ META“ untersucht ethische, gesellschaftliche und rechtliche Aspekte solcher Technologien. Während der Corona-Pandemie arbeitet sie zu ethischen Abwägungen und erforscht Vulnerabilitäten, zum Beispiel in dem Projekt „ Shelter in Place“, gefördert von der VolkswagenStiftung. 2021 erschien das Buch „ Gesundheitliche Ungleichheit - Auf dem Weg von Daten zu Taten“, welches sie gemeinsam mit Andreas Mielck verfasst hat.

Seit November 2020 Inhaberin der Professur für Ethik der Medizin an der Universität Augsburg, seit 2023 Direktorin Institut für Ethik und Geschichte der Gesundheit in der Gesellschaft (Institute for Ethics and History of Health in Society, IEHHS).

 

Studium der Humanmedizin an der Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen mit einem studienbegleitenden Schwerpunkt in Medizinethik. Auslandsaufenthalte u.a. in Argentinien, Schottland, Spanien und Tansania. Promotion an der Universität Zürich (ausgezeichnet mit dem Nachwuchspreis der Akademie für Ethik in der Medizin). Praktische Tätigkeit als Ärztin der Inneren Medizin in Berlin. Von 2008 bis 2016 Oberassistentin und zeitweise stellvertretende Leitung am Institut für Biomedizinische Ethik und Medizingeschichte, Universität Zürich. Habilitation im Fach Bioethik mit einer Arbeit zu' Vulnerabilität und Gerechtigkeit in Medizin, Forschung und Public Health'. Von 2015 bis 2017 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Philosophie IV der LMU. Forschungsaufenthalte an Columbia University, University of Sydney, Rutgers University. Von 2017 bis 2020 am Institut für Ethik, Geschichte und Theorie der Medizin der LMU. Von 2018 bis 2020 stellvertretende Institutsleitung.

Seit 2018 Projektleitung META - mHealth: Ethical, legal and social aspects in the technological age”, gefördert vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (Fördervolumen 2,1 Millionen EUR).
